HIV/Aids pandemic remains the largest threat to the families in Kisumu, leaving in its destructive trail, a growing population of orphaned children with missed opportunities to enjoy parental care. According to the 2001 results of sentinel surveillance by the Government's Ministry of Health , the percentage of pregnant women testing HIV-positive was 35% for Kisumu with the province (Nyanza) registering the highest cumulative figure of HIV-positive adults between the ages of 15-49 years (480,000).

Christians are commanded according to James 1:27 take care for orphans and widows. In this regard we are involved in child sponsorship with priority being given to HIV/Aids orphans. While there is no medical cure for the virus that causes AIDS, there is a solution for our separation from God. The church is called to love the sick and their families, sharing with them a message of eternal life, love and healing.

It has been said, "AIDS is like a Goliath taunting the church and mouthing profanities against our God."

  • We need a David to rise up and challenge this Goliath in the name of the Lord. 
  • The church is God's chosen one to be David and fight this giant.
  • We need the equivalent of David's sling and five smooth stones to be used with skill and confidence to defeat this Goliath.
  • The church is God's instrument of transformation. 
  • The church is one of the few institutions with the potential of bringing effective solutions to a community…at the household and individual level. This fact is even recognized by the United Nations.
  • The church has a long-term presence in 90 percent of AIDS affected communities. 
  • The challenge is to re-orient local church leaders and members to engage in this work.
  • It is the world-wide church's role to come alongside with encouragement and resources for the church in Africa.

What does Child Sponsorship involve?

It involves your willful donations that shall be used to cater for the child's food, clothing and shelter. You can partner with us towards this goal by donating 25 US Dollars a month. Any other form of Donation (clothing, foodstuffs) will be greatly appreciated.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
